Northern Sommelier Club starts…..calling all sommeliers based in the North!

March 11th 2024 saw 34 Northern-based Sommeliers meet for the first time at the inaugural gathering of the Northern Sommelier Club. It was a great success and an excellent opportunity to meet fellow professionals and have a chance to chat.

Each attendee was requested to bring a bottle of wine from a producer that is special to them, still relatively unknown, that they believe deserves more attention.

It was initiated by Eric Zwiebel (Wine Director of the Samling and on the UKSA board) who wished to build a network of Sommeliers in the North, especially important for those in remote areas, and provide an opportunity to form subgroups based on location and career path.

In addition, it would present a clear and structured career path for certifications (ASI) exams and competitions where senior members of the group can mentor members interested in following these areas).

The plan is to meet every 6-8 weeks and would welcome as many members as possible to build a fabulous supportive and thriving network in the North!

For more information on the club and to be informed of the next meeting please email info@uksommelieracademy.com and we will ensure you are supplied with all the information.
